It has been revealed that the Backyard Sports video game series will return following some recent social media hints.
On Tuesday, Playground Productions unveiled the official reveal teaser for the revived series, which teases a brand-new baseball game.

Creator of Backyard Sports and CEO of Playground Productions Lindsay Barnett said in a statement, “‘Backyard Sports’ is more than simply a game; it is a beloved aspect of childhood for millions of people.” “In my opinion, the media serves as the world’s biggest classroom. As a result, we strive to create informative, inspirational, and entertaining material. “Backyard Sports'” comeback is the ideal realization of that objective.

In 1997, Backyard Sports produced its first game, Backyard Baseball, which introduced the popular group of “Backyard Kids” characters, including Pete Wheeler, Kenny Kawaguchi, Pablo Sanchez, Stephanie Morgan, and more. Atari and Humongous Entertainment originally created the franchise, which eventually included Backyard Sports games for football, basketball, hockey, and soccer.

Backyard Sports and MLB collaborated in 2001 to provide 30 fictional characters and one player from each of the 30 teams, with each major league player portrayed as a child version of himself. Athletes included in the initial edition included Cal Ripken Jr., Tony Gwynn, Randy Johnson, and Ken Griffey Jr. In a similar vein, the other Backyard Sports games collaborated with the WNBA, NBA, MLS, and NHL to showcase athletes from those leagues, such as Joe Sakic, Cobi Jones, Lisa Leslie, Brandi Chastain, Jerry Rice, and Kevin Garnett.

Although followers of the franchise have been waiting for a new installment for almost a decade, speculation gained momentum in January of last year when NFL player and former Eagles center Jason Kelce said on his podcast that he would consider trying to create a new Backyard Football and baseball game. Backyard sports is coming back.
